DeCare’s Wellness That Works Seminar took place this week, and the Proactive Team went along to learn about Empowering Workplace Wellbeing.
The event brought business people from all industries together for an early start to enjoy breakfast in The Clayton Hotel Galway. After a warm welcome from Maureen Walsh, CEO DeCare Dental, the speakers took to the stage to share their insights on how to manage successful wellness policies.
Wellness and Health Promotions Manager David Casey, Employment Law and HR Advisor Helen Quinn, leading expert on Healthcare Benefits in Ireland Dermot Goode and Rugby legend and Mental Health Advocate Alan Quinlan all shared their advice for promoting health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Helen Quinn, Employment Law and HR Advisor at Small Firms Association encouraged everyone to practice meditation and bringing more awareness into our working lives. She instructed the room to stand up and actively practice meditative techniques.

Mental health with Alan Quinlan
Alan Quinlan, Rugby legend and Mental Health Advocate talked about mental health, sharing his own story of learning to cope with stress and depression. He also had an emphasis on awareness, as well as resilience and asking for help. Idea of life being great and perfect and it’s not shameful to not be ok.

How to avoid pitfalls with Dermot Goode
